Customer Opinions

I've owned this boot since December 2011 and have hiked the 46 high peaks of New York in them becoming a Adirondack 46er. These boots have gone literally hundreds of miles in mostly winter hiking with snow shoes, microspikes and crampons strapped on at any given hike. They've kept my feet dry and warm in some of the worst of conditions Mother Nature can dish out. I absolutely love them. I think I've hiked no less than 60 mountains in these boots. I knew they were showing wear when the outer sole began to separate at the toe on both boots. On my hike two weeks ago the sole blew out separating from the shoe and leaving me struggling with duct tape to get through the hike (6 mountains). I made it out safely. I immediately ordered another pair and was so happy the same boot was still available. My only question is, should the sole have separated like it did even with this punishment I put them through. All in all I love Merrell boots. I own four pairs and have been extremely satisfied with the performance of the boot. Looking forward to many more summits in my new boots.

These were my first boots, I kept coming back to Merrell after them, they were that good. Back in 2009, I was in need for waterproof, insulated boots. In the sporting goods store, I was offered a variety of choices, and these were my choice. I hiked with these, both on established trails and head on rough terrain, I hiked, used them daily and they never let me down. There is some room for improvement, but overall, great boots. This was my original review, they began to leak though. Not sure where it's coming from, all the upper seems fine, no cracks or the like. Mailing Merrell didn't help as they didn't return. Pros Very good insulation Waterproof Good traction Good stability Cons Does not breathe, wear wicking socks Really hard soles, good stability, might hurt your feet if you use them in city, on asphalt, concrete, etc. Really good insulation, good while commuting, too warm for well heated indoors. Lacing straps are too narrow, regular eyelets or bigger straps would better.
