I just came home with a pair of these boots and read all
these reviews of cracking the outer shell. I live in Alaska
where it's not uncommon for me to be hiking outside in -20
while doing my job. I am hoping that this issue does not
pose problems, but I have faith in Merrell as I've never had
problems with Merrell boots that have lasted for years in
the past. I'll be in touch.
These boots can only be described by one word...
FANTASTIC!!! The 200 grams of insulation is a perfect blend
to keep your feet warm in the cold weather but not too much
for the heat. I have taken these boots to the tree stand,
Rocky mountain trails, snowy Appalachian hills, and wet
dirty yard work. While I have had these boots, they have
seen just about every weather condition you could think of.
Whether its from doing yard work in 98 degree Georgia heat,
or a 5 degree snowy weekend hike in the mountains. I have
hiked countless miles while owning these. As an Eagle Scout,
I have gone through a lot of equipment, and I know what to
look for when it comes to a good boot. I am very proud to
say that I have owned these boots for the past 4 years and
don't have a bad word to say about them. I would highly
recommend these boots to anyone. These boots are worth every
Bought these boots late last winter and love them. I work
outside all day in Minnesota on car lots and get the
traction I need. Only problem is that this year the part of
the boot where it flexes on the top has cracked. I still
wear them but deal with wet feet everyday. A little
disappointed since I've only worn these for maybe a total of
4 months in the winter. Going to think twice when I look for
another pair next winter. A new pair is going to have to
wait since I cant afford another pair of boots mid-season.
