After spending much time reading reviews on several pairs of
boots, I was (like others) somewhat hesitant to purchase
these boots because of the issues with the boot cracking,
but I went ahead and got them anyway. They have been great!!
I also own Merrell shoes and sandals and love them, so
thought I would take the chance on these boots. I need them
for a mixture of personal outdoor activities and also for
work when I am on the job site throughout the week. I've
only worn them for a couple weeks now, but they are so
comfortable, I forget they are on. The break in period was
only a couple days and they have been great every since.
Very happy with my purchase!
Bottom line: These are the most comfortable boot I have ever
had on my feet. They are warm, super water-proof and feel
like they were molded to my foot with just enough extra room
for the toes to move. Incredible comfort. Also, the Vibram
soles are really nice with a lot of grip. In NE Ohio, we get
a lot, A LOT, of snow and I walk my dog 3x a day. I got
really sick of having to buy boots every year and wanted a
good pair of quality waterproof boots that would last. I
went to Dick's looking specifically for leather Merrell
boots, but anything quality in leather. I tried these on and
they were SO comfortable, like they were made for my feet.
Very scared of the plastic shell and potential cracking, I
tried like crazy to find a better leather boot but nothing
compared to these things comfort-wise. A quick phone call to
my wife back at the home computer revealed 1) good reviews
in general (not great, but they are relatively cheap), 2)
that Merrell responded positively to people who complained.
This convinced me to take the chance and so far, 1 week
later, I can't possible like these boots any more than I do.
Sure I worry about cracking, and actually came to the site
today to look for care instructions to keep the plastic
shell in good shape. I just hope they last me at least 2
years, then I would be satisfied. 3 years and I am happy.
I bought a pair of these boots roughly 6 years ago at dicks
sporting goods. i am a lumberjack, and believe me when I say
that it is extremely difficult to find excellent boots or
gloves to keep your feet and hands warm and dry. especially
in wet, snowy, and freezing temps for long periods of time.
these boots were sent down from the gods themselves. my pair
finally blewout at the seam after roughly 6 years of abuse.
time to get a new pair. cant beat them at keeping your feet
dry, warm, and excellent traction. simply awesome!
